This is one of my favorite pictures of my father. He is happily sitting in a chair surrounded by people he loves and who love him. Life is good. He's happy. Happy is how I'll always choose to remember him... and since I'm the one who put this website together, it's likely everyone else will remember him this way too.
Smart, intuitive, emotional one moment and totally controlled the next... He was a walking contradiction who excelled at making incredibly good decisions at just the right time. He enlisted in the Navy. Married my Mom. Moved the family to San Diego and never looked back. They raised three children [Kevin, Vernell, Andrell(Ron) and me, the eldest, Lionel Jr.] three grandchildren and 7 great-grand children.
After retiring from the Navy he also worked for SDGE and was instrumental at the formation of the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) as well as a valued member of the Tierrasanta community through Kiwana's and the Homeboy's.
He was the epitome of the best... a respected everyday hero who lived his life being an example to many. If the measure of a person is the hole in the hearts of those who knew them when they pass, my Dad was the best. He will be missed.
